‘The Big Picture’ competition first started at the 2005 Lydney Festival and proved such a success it has continued ever since. The organising group came up with the idea of ‘The Big Picture Painting’, giving as many young people as possible the opportunity to get painting.

	The group developed ideas with David and went out to local schools to ask the pupils to enter into the picture competition. Alice Worgan’s winning picture was created in magnified form during the Jazz in the Park session in Bathurst Park on Sunday, July 10 2005 . The Co-op presented her and runner up Becky Hall with gift vouchers and Fairtrade goodies on the day.
Big Picture 2006 Winners were:- Saxaphone by Tyler Davies-age 10 of Severnbanks School, Lydney and Guitar by Foster Lancett-age 10 of Yorkley Primary School.

	One of the 2006 murals has replaced the previous one on the Lydney Coop store and the second for the Fleece Chambers in Newerne Street. Lydney Festival were very happy that Midcounties Coop have been their sponsor once again.
